Haryana Govt to make extensive arrangements for procurement of Paddy, Maize and Bajra

14 August, Chandigarh: The Haryana Government will make extensive arrangements to procure each and every grain of paddy, maize, and bajra, said Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala.

In his address, the Deputy Chief Minister who also holds the portfolio of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, while interacting with the farmers, at the Grain Mandi of Shahabad in district Kurukshetra today said that the State Government is implementing special policies and schemes to empower the farmers and poor of the state.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, each and every grain of other Rabi crops including wheat was procured. Such arrangements were made for procuring the crops so that the farmers did not have to stay in the mandi even for a day to sell their crops and the payments were also made directly to their accounts through the online system.

While hearing the demands made by MLA Shahbad, Mr. Ram Karan Kala, Deputy Chief Minister said that Rs 15 lakh will be given to small villages and Rs 20 lakh will be given to big villages for development works and to strengthen the infrastructure of villages. He said that during the pandemic, the State Government set up procurement centres four times their previous number with the objective to buy the crops of farmers and to protect them from the pandemic.

He said that farmers and traders were very supportive during the wheat procurement season. He said that the State Government has implemented Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana to compensate the loss of farmers. Fruits and vegetables are included in this scheme, he added.
