Haryana govt announces subsidy on crop residue management equipment

12 August 2020, Chandigarh: Haryana govt announced subsidy on crop residue management equipment to control farmers from burning crop residue post harvest. Farmers will be able to apply for the subsidy through an online portal till 21st August 2020.

Under the ‘In Situ Crop Residue Management’ scheme of the Central Government, subsidy will be given on super Straw Management System, Happy Seeder Machine, Paddy Straw Chopper, Threader Mulcher For Crop Residue, Reversible MB Plough, Super Seeder, Zero Till Drill Machine and Bailor Rack Reaper (Tractor Mounted Reaper Binder, Self Propelled Reaper Binder).

If the number of applications received is more than expected, then selection of the beneficiaries will be done through draw/lottery system.  A farmer beneficiary will be eligible for getting subsidy for a maximum of three different types of agricultural machinery (1 each). The subsidy available on each agricultural machine will be 50 percent of the maximum value fixed by the Government of India or the maximum subsidy amount fixed by the Government of India (whichever is less).

It is compulsory to purchase these equipments from agricultural machinery manufacturers authorized and listed by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Haryana to be eligible for subsidy.

80 percent subsidy will be given to Panchayat, FPOs / Registered Farmer Societies / Cooperative Societies for buying the above mentioned crop residue equipments and to set up custom hiring centres.
