Haryana government releases 30.39 Crore for crop damages

31 July 2020, Chandigarh: Haryana government has released Rs 30.39 crore for Kharif and Rabi crop damages due to heavy rain and hailstorm during October 2019-20.

Giving detailed information in this regard, State Agriculture Minister Mr. Dalal said that compensation amount of Rs 14.66 Cr has been released for farmers of Bhiwani district; Rs 7.28 Cr for Rohtak district, Rs 7.56 for Mahendragarh district and Rs 88.67 Lakh has been released for the farmers of Yamunanagar district.

He said that wheat, mustard etc crops were affected with heavy loss. Special Girdawari (crop-assessment) of affected crops was conducted by the State Government, on the basis of which this compensation amount has been released. He said that standing crops spread over 6,235 acres were damaged in various villages under Loharu and Tosham sub-divisions of Bhiwani district.

Affected villages include Kasni Kala, Kasni Khurd, Surpura Kala and Surpura Khurd, Sidhanwan, Serla, Gopalwas, Hariyawas and Mandoli Kala villages. Mr. Dalal said that the State Government is committed to the progress and prosperity of the farmers.

While showing his concern over locust swarms attack, he said that farmers need not to worry about locust swarms as the officials of various Departments besides Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department have been instructed to take effective measures to control the locusts.
