Haryana Government fixes per acre premium for four Major Kharif crops

26 July 2020, Chandigarh: Haryana Government has fixed the per acre premium and the insured amount of four major crops of Kharif 2020 viz. Paddy, Cotton, Maize, and Bajra under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).  Farmers can get these crops insured by July 31, 2020. Gram Panchayat has been considered as an insured unit.

It is mandatory to get insurance coverage of all farmers registered on the portal of central government pmfby.gov.in. The premium amount should be sent only through NCIP’s payment gateway Pay-Gov and it is mandatory for all farmers to have an Aadhaar number.

The farmers growing cotton, bajra, maize and paddy crops only have been included under this scheme. Those farmers who have not availed loan can get insurance done through their bank branch, authorized intermediary, Atal Seva Kendra or the Portal by July 31, 2020.

In case of decline in the average crop yield due to large scale natural disaster, claim would be given on authorized area basis. However, in case of damage to standing crops due to water logging (except paddy crop), hailstorm, cloudburst, sky lightening and natural fire, the claim would be given at the farm level. Similarly, the claim of damage caused to the harvested crop kept in the field for drying upto 14 days, due to cyclone, cyclonic rain, unseasonal rain and hailstorm would also be provided at the farm level.
