Fifth Centre Of Excellence In Horticulture Established Under INDO-Israel Project

02 December 2020, Chandigarh, IN: Under the Indo-Israel Project, Ambassador of Israel to India, Dr. Ron Malka in the presence of Haryana Agriculture Minister, Mr. J.P. Dalal today laid the foundation stone of fifth Centre of Excellence in Horticulture which is to come up in district Bhiwani. An amount of Rs. 8.25 crore will be spent for setting up the Centre at village Gignau in district Bhiwani.

On this occasion, Dr. Ron said that both India and Israel will work together in the field of advanced agricultural resources, agricultural research and training for the prosperity and well-being of the hardworking farmers of India. In the field of horticulture in India, Haryana has become the Centre of Excellence, he said.

Mr. J.P Dalal said that this Centre of Excellence for Horticulture which is to be built on 50 acres of land on the lines of Indo-Israeli technology will be ready in the next sixth months. Keeping in view the increasing holdings and increasing expenditure on agriculture, the government has decided to establish this Centre in this semi-arid region to double the income of farmers.

He said that with the establishment of this Centre, farmers of Loharu Assembly Constituency along with horticulture will adopt cultivation of fruits and flowers and vegetables. This Centre will play a decisive role in fostering Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision of doubling farmers’ income by 2022. The Agriculture Minister said that agricultural scientists of Israel and Haryana Agricultural University will regularly give their services in this Centre of excellence.
