Field day on tar wattar direct seeded rice – a novel technique

29 September 2021, Punjab: Field Day on “Tar Wattar Direct Seeded Rice- A Novel Technique” was organized by Farm Advisory Service Centre, Tarn Taran and Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana in collaboration with NABARD Chandigarh on 28.09.2021 at Margindpura, Tarn Taran. Dr. Parvinder Singh, Incharge FASC Tarn Taran welcomed the farmers and resource persons from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He further highlighted the importance of field day regarding adoption of DSR technique in paddy.

Dr. K S Saini, Chief Agriculture Officer, Department of Agriculture, Tarn Taran, Chief Guest of the function while addressing to farmers asked not to burn paddy straw and manage it in field for safe environment and also requested the farmers to make judicious use of water. Dr. Tarundeep Kaur, Senior Agronomist, Department of Agronomy discussed in detail the weed management practices to be followed for weed control in DSR technique and also answered the various queries regarding weed management in DSR fields.

Dr. Jasvir Singh Gill, Agronomist shared tips on Tar Wattar technique to make it a successful under limited water conditions. He discussed the queries regarding the lucky seed drill and other machinery related to DSR cultivation. Dr. Amit Kaul, Extension Scientist, Department of Agronomy discussed about good agricultural practices for cultivation of various rabi crops, new recommendation by Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana and about new released varieties of wheat and other rabi crops.

Dr. Parminder Kaur, DES (SM) discussed about the judicious use of agrochemicals on the crops and laid emphasis to adopt proper application technology of pesticides. Dr. Parminder Singh Sandhu DES (Agronomy) asked farmers to adopt diversification and discussed cultivation practices for oilseed crops during rabi season. Dr. Savreet Khehra asked the farmers to be in touch with the experts of PAU, FASC Tarn Taran for guidance in future and extended the vote of thanks to all the participants.
