FASC, Amritsar organised seed treatment campaign in wheat

12 November 2021, Punjab: A seed treatment campaign was organised by FASC, Amritsar in villages Sudhar, Nanoke, Madhu Chhanga and Sudhar to make people aware about the importance of seed treatment in managing insect pests and diseases. Seed treatment helps to manage insect pests and diseases prior to their attack, require less quantity of pesticides, effective and at the same time is an environment friendly approach also. During the camp, Dr. Gurmeet Singh, DES (Entomology) started his views with the importance of seed treatment.

He put emphasis on the right method, right pesticide and its dose recommended for the seed treatment. He shared that method of seed treatment varies with the change in crop. Hence a right method, right pesticide and its dose is the key for successful management of insect pests and diseases. Vitavax power, a fungicide for the control of loose smut of wheat and consortium was given to the farmers for demonstration. Gurmeet Singh, a resident of village Madhu Chhanga thanked the scientist for sharing his valuable views.
