Farmers will be given adequate compensation for land acquired under ‘bharatmala project’: Randhawa

30 September 2021, Punjab, India: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today said that the adequate compensation would be given to the farmers for the land to be acquired under Bharatmala project and all of their grievances will be resolved .

This was stated by the Deputy Chief Minister, Revenue Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary and Technical Education & Industrial Training Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh along with senior officials of the department and officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in a meeting with the representatives of Road Kisan Sangharsh Committee.

Advocate Gurjit Singh Gill of Sangharsh Committee pointed out that in many places the farmers were getting less compensation for the land acquired than in comparison to other places. S. Randhawa assured him that the state government stood by the farmers and every effort would be made to compensate them accordingly.

Revenue Minister Mrs. Chaudhary directed the authorities to find a solution to the issue as soon as possible so as to give due compensation to the farmers in this matter. Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister Rana Gurjit Singh also assured the farmers that the state government would always stand by them.

Prominent anomg others who were present in the meeting included Lok Sabha Member S. Jasbir Singh Dimpa, MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, Advisor to National Highways Authority (Punjab) Kahan Singh Pannu, Financial Commissioner Revenue Ravneet Kaur, Special Secretary Revenue Manvesh Singh Sidhu and Special Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister Varun Roojam.
