Excellent arrangements for purchase of kharif crops on support price in Madhya Pradesh

17 September 2020, Bhopal, IN: Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that excellent arrangements has be made for purchase of crops including paddy from farmers in the Kharif marketing year 2020-21.

This time Madhya Pradesh has set a model in the whole country in wheat procurement, there should be no shortage in procurement of crops like paddy etc. Farmers must be given sufficient time to sell their crops on support price. Also, all necessary precautions should be ensured at procurement centres in the wake of Covid crisis.

Registration of farmers begins, to continue till October 15

Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan said that this year, 1395 registration centres have been set up so far to purchase paddy, jowar and bajra on support price. Registration has started and will continue till October 15. Nine thousand 142 farmers have got registered on the first two days of registration. Last year, 975 procurement centres were set up, which is being increased to 1500 this time. The registration for cotton has been started by the Cotton Corporation of India.

Target of 75 thousand MT for potential purchase of jowar and bajra

A target of 75 thousand MT has been fixed for potential procurement of jowar and bajra on support price in the state this Kharif marketing year. The potential target is of 60 thousand metric tonne bajra and 15 thousand metric tonne jowar. Permission has been obtained from the Government of India in this regard. This time the support price of jowar has been kept at Rs 2620 per quintal and the support price of bajra at Rs 2150 per quintal. Last year it was Rs 2550 and Rs 2000 per quintal respectively. The sown area of ​​jowar is 1.13 lakh hectare and the sown area of bajra millet is 3.73 lakh hectare.

Target of potential procurement of 40 lakh MT paddy

A target of potential procurement of 40 lakh MT paddy has been fixed in the state this Kharif marketing year. The support price of paddy this time is Rs 1868 per quintal, compared to Rs 1825 last year. This time the area under paddy is 34.25 lakh hectares. The probable duration of paddy procurement is from November 1 to February 15.

P.P. bags also allowed this time for paddy

PP bags have also been allowed this time for paddy procurement due to shortage of jute gunny bags in Corona period. Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan instructed that arrangements of adequate number of PP bags should be ensured, so that procurement work is not delayed. He also directed to make adequate arrangements for storage. In this regard, the making of cabs should be started from now itself.

Paddy procurement by Civil Supplies Corporation and Marketing Federation

This time paddy will be procured by Madhya Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation in 19 districts of the state and by Madhya Pradesh Marketing Federation in 33 districts. Similarly, procurement of coarse grains will be done by Madhya Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation in all the districts. Arrangements of gunny bags will be ensured by the Civil Supplies Corporation.
