10 January 2024, New Delhi: Wheat variety Pusa Vani (HI 1633) has been identified for late sowing and production under irrigated conditions in peninsular region (Maharashtra and Karnataka). The average production capacity of Pusa Vani is 41.7 quintals/hectare and maximum production capacity is 65.8 quintals/hectare.

This variety gives 6.4% more yield than the prevalent HD 2992. This variety is completely resistant to black and brown rust disease and the infestation of pests is also negligible. The quality of its chapati is excellent because it is rich in nutrients with protein 12.4%, iron element 41.6 ppm and zinc element 41.1 ppm. Scientists hope that both the varieties will prove to be a boon for farmers and will become a good option due to their quality and high production capacity.
