Soybean Variety NRC 197
12 June 2024, Bhopal: Soybean Variety NRC 197 has been developed by the Indian Soybean Research Institute through Marker Assisted Selection method. It is the first variety of the northern hilly region which is free from the non-nutritious Kunitz Trypsin Inhibitor and has been found suitable for the hill districts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Soybean Variety NRC 197 is an early duration variety maturing in 113 days which is a very suitable option for hilly areas. Its leaves are pointed in shape. Its average productivity was observed to be 1624 kg/ha and a maximum production capacity of 2072 kg/ha was observed in the trials.
