Soybean Variety JS 23-09
12 June 2024, Bhopal: Like other varieties of the JS 23-09 series, it has also been developed by Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, Jabalpur, which is also the center for the All India Soybean Research Project. In trials conducted in the central region during the year 2021 to 2023, it achieved 24 percent more production than the prevalent variety at an average rate of 2104 kg/ha in just 92 days. This variety has purple flowers and black hilum and hairless pods.
During the trials, Soybean Variety JS 23-09 has shown medium to high resistance to charcoal rot. Apart from this, it was also found to be moderately resistant to anthracnose and yellow mosaic disease. It has shown medium resistance to many diseases like Rhizoctonia Aerial Blight and Yellow Mosaic Virus. Its flowers are purple, and pointed-shaped leaves are seen and yellow seeds have black hilum. This variety has been found suitable for the central region that includes the entire Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Bundelkhand region of Central Uttar Pradesh.
