Pusa Chickpea 4037 (Aswini): A High-Yielding, Machine-Harvestable Chickpea Variety for North West India
16 April 2025, New Delhi: Pusa Chickpea 4037 (Aswini), a new chickpea variety has been notified in 2025 by the Central Varietal Release Committee (CVRC). Developed by ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, this variety is designed specifically for the North West Plain Zone, covering Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Northern Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

- Average yield: 2673 kg/ha
- Potential yield: 3646 kg/ha
