High Yielding Wheat Variety PBW 1: Best for Punjab
05 February 2025, New Delhi: PBW 1, commonly known as PBW 1 chapati, is a high-yielding wheat variety developed by PAU, Ludhiana, and officially notified on December 24, 2021. This variety is specifically bred for timely sown, irrigated production conditions in Punjab, yielding an average of 45.1 quintals per hectare and a potential yield of 48.4 quintals per hectare.
Notable for its resistance to brown rust and moderate resistance to stripe rust, PBW 1 also boasts good chapati quality and a higher protein content of 12.72%. Farmers in Punjab looking for a high-yielding wheat variety with excellent culinary qualities and disease resistance should strongly consider PBW 1.
