03 February 2025, New Delhi: HI 8826 (Pusa Poshtik) is a durum wheat variety designed for timely sown, irrigated conditions in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, and Tamil Nadu. It is ideal for farmers seeking disease-resistant wheat with hard grains for better milling and storage.
Developed by ICAR-IARI RS, Indore, this variety was notified under 1056(E) on 06.03.2023. It has an average yield of 48.8 q/ha and a potential yield of 73.7 q/ha, making it one of the highest-yielding durum wheat varieties.
