03 February 2025, New Delhi: DDW 48 is a durum wheat variety developed for timely sown, irrigated conditions in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, and Tamil Nadu. With high protein content, superior yellow pigment, and excellent pasta acceptability, this variety is ideal for farmers targeting premium wheat markets.
Developed by ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal, this variety was officially notified under 500(E) on 29.01.2021. It offers an average yield of 47.4 q/ha and a potential yield of 72.0 q/ha, making it a high-performing wheat variety in the Peninsular Zone.
