High-Yielding Wheat Variety: DBW 316 (Karan Prema)

02 February 2025, New Delhi: DBW 316 (Karan Prema) is a high-yielding wheat variety developed by ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal, specifically for late-sown, irrigated conditions northern region. It was notified under 1056(E), 06.03.2023, with an average yield of 41.0 q/ha and a potential yield of 68.0 q/ha.

One of the key features of DBW 316 (Karan Prema) is its resistance to wheat blast and all three rusts (yellow, brown, and black rusts). Additionally, it has a protein content of 13.2%, making it a nutritionally rich wheat variety. It is also tolerant to drought (DSI: 0.88) and heat stress (HSI: 0.19), ensuring stable yields under challenging climatic conditions.
