High-Yielding Wheat Variety: DBW 252 (Karan Shreya)
02 February 2025, New Delhi: DBW 252 (Karan Shreya) is a high-yielding wheat variety developed by ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal for timely sown, restricted irrigation conditions. It was notified under 99(E), 06.01.2020, with an average yield of 36.7 q/ha and a potential yield of 55.6 q/ha.
This variety is highly resistant to wheat blast, showing an average blast incidence of just 2.5% in Bangladesh. It is also drought-resistant (DSI: 0.74) and has a good sedimentation value (61.2 ml), indicating excellent flour quality. Farmers in northern regions with limited water availability should consider DBW 252 (Karan Shreya) for stable yields and better crop resilience.
