High-Yielding Biofortified Wheat Variety: DBW 187 (Karan Vandana)
02 February 2025, New Delhi: DBW 187 (Karan Vandana) is a biofortified wheat variety developed by ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal for timely sown, irrigated conditions in the Central Zone of India. Notified under 8(E), 24.12.2021, this variety has an average yield of 60.3 q/ha and a potential yield of 75.4 q/ha.
A key highlight of DBW 187 (Karan Vandana) is its resistance to yellow and brown rust, providing robust protection against diseases. Additionally, it has a good biscuit spread factor (8.6 cm), making it suitable for the bakery industry. It is also rich in iron (Fe: 43.1 ppm), contributing to better nutritional value.
