CG 1023 (Chhattisgarh Hansa Wheat): A High-Yielding Bread Wheat Variety for Chhattisgarh

03 February 2025, New Delhi: CG 1023, also known as Chhattisgarh Hansa Wheat, is a high-yielding bread wheat variety developed for timely sown, restricted irrigated conditions in Chhattisgarh. It was released by Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Regional Station (IGKV RS), Bilaspur, and is known for its superior chapati quality and high zinc content.

This variety has an average yield of 32.14 quintals per hectare, with a potential yield of up to 42 quintals per hectare, making it a suitable choice for farmers in Chhattisgarh seeking better productivity.

CG 1023 is highly valued for its chapati-making quality, scoring 8.06 in quality tests, ensuring soft and nutritious chapatis. It also has a high zinc content of 40.4 ppm, which enhances its nutritional value. The variety is well-adapted to Chhattisgarh’s climatic conditions and is suitable for timely sowing under restricted irrigation.
