Scindia inaugurates state’s first Drone Tech Centre of Excellence at PIEMR

23 August 2021, Indore: The city’s first Drone-Tech Center of Excellence, established at Prestige Institute of Engineering Management and Research has started its operation purportedly to give impetus to research and development in drone technology, develop drone application software and give training to drone pilots.The centre was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia in the presence of noted Jain saint Upadhyay Praveen Rishi Maharaj, MP Shankar Lalwani, State Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silavat, Prestige Group Founder Padmshree Dr Nemnath  Jain and other dignitaries.

The first of its type in Madhya Pradesh, the Drone Tech Center of Excellence which has been set up at the Prestige Institute of Engineering and Management in collaboration with the Atal Incubation Centre-Prestige Inspire Foundation will primarily focus on increased use of drone technology in various sectors, especially agriculture, research and development, drone application development, besides giving training to drone pilots.While inaugurating the center, Scindia said that drones are bringing about the next big technological revolution across the world with low cost, resources and time taken to operate.

He said that the government has recently introduced the Draft Drone Rules 2021 with an objective to promote and encourage the drone industry, which is quite different from the earlier UAS rules.Dr. Davis Jain, Chairman, Prestige Education Foundation, said that this Drone-Tech Center of Excellence will prove to be a boon for the youth of the state as it will create immense opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.

PIEMR Director Dr. Manojkumar Deshpande said that the city and state’s first Drone Tech Center will have all the facilities of state   of art research and development to develop Drone Application software and will work towards increased use of drone technology in agriculture and other sectors.Dr. Sanjeev Patni, CEO, AIC-PIF, briefed about the initiatives and startups of AIC-PIF. Dipin Jain and Himanshu Jain of Prestige Education Foundation also expressed their views on this occasion. State MSME Science and Technology Minister Om Prakash Saklecha also addressed the inaugural ceremony of Drone Tech Center virtually.After the inaugural ceremony, Drone Expert Abhay Singh Lodhi performed a live demonstration of Drone Operation from Drone-Tech CoE on the campus of PIEMR.
