ICAR and IFFCO signs MoU for collaborative research

10 June 2020, New Delhi: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) signed an MoU for collaborative research, test and validate different products through ICAR institutes and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), disseminate technological advancements through training, awareness programs, campaigns, field trials and demonstrations for the benefit of farmers. 

Dr T Mohapatra, Secretary DARE & DG ICAR chaired the session and emphasised that with the collaborative research and extension, if consumption of Fertiliser could be reduced to even 15%, it will be a significant contribution. He stressed upon technology validation and commercialisation.

Dr Udai Shanker Awasthi, Managing Director IFFCO said that the MoU will help in solving the problems of farmers and will promote constructive research for the benefit of the farming community.

Dr AK Singh, DDG gave a brief background of the MoU. Dr Udai Shanker Awasthi, Managing Director IFFCO as Co-Chair, Dr SK Malhotra, Commissioner Agriculture, GOI, Dr SP Kimothi, ADG (Cdn), Dr Randhir Singh, ADG (Extension), Director ATARIs and representatives of the KVKs were present for the signing of MoU.

Shri Yogendra Kumar, Marketing Director mentioned that the MoU will help in testing, validation and dissemination of innovative products at a fast pace which will benefit the farmers. He also mentioned that the work plan will be discussed shortly with ICAR.
