Agricultural Production Commissioner of Tamil Nadu lauds ICAR-SBI, Coimbatore’s research achievements
17 December, 2020, Coimbatore: Shri Gagandeep Singh Bedi, I.A.S., Agricultural Production Commissioner & Principal Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu visited the ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu today.

Shri Bedi visited the Institute’s fields and the Sugarcane-based Farming System Model Farm established at the Institute with the support of the Government of Tamil Nadu under RKVY. He stressed on the usefulness of the farm’s model for the farmers, development personnel, students and the general public who visit the Institute regularly for getting exposed to sugarcane varieties and production technologies. He also applauded the Institute’s scientists and staff members for making crosses and supplying sugarcane fluff to 24 Centres across the country during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
Dr. Bakshi Ram, Director, ICAR-SBI, Coimbatore apprised him of the ongoing research activities at the Institute.
