Rivulis Partners with Cocamar to Boost Water Efficiency and Crop Yields
24 January 2025, Brazil: Rivulis, an Israeli leader in drip irrigation technology, has entered into an exclusive partnership with Cocamar, one of Brazil’s largest agricultural cooperatives. This collaboration seeks to bring advanced irrigation solutions to farmers, enhancing water efficiency and boosting crop yields, particularly in response to the challenging weather patterns that have impacted Brazilian agriculture in recent years.
Facing increasing water scarcity and the pressing need to manage natural resources effectively, Cocamar turned to innovative irrigation methods. Drip irrigation, recognized as one of the most sustainable and efficient systems, will be the cornerstone of this partnership. Rivulis, with its extensive industry expertise, will deliver modern, adaptable solutions that optimize water distribution, minimize waste, and improve productivity. According to Leandro Lance, Rivulis’ commercial director in Brazil, these systems are designed to ensure precision and sustainability in agriculture.
This partnership underscores a mutual commitment to sustainability and innovation, offering comprehensive irrigation support to cooperative members. Thassio Monteiro, an agricultural engineer and technical consultant at Cocamar, highlighted the importance of this initiative, particularly during years of climatic challenges that strain water management efforts.
Irrigation technologies introduced through this collaboration are expected to bring significant benefits to both crops and the environment while addressing the unique needs of rural properties.
The focus is on regions such as Arenito Caiuá in Paraná, known for its sandy soils and water-related challenges. Monteiro explained that revenue per hectare in these areas is drastically lower compared to more fertile regions, emphasizing the urgent need for tools to support farmers in overcoming these disparities.
Cocamar primarily serves small and medium-sized farmers, though it also supports larger operations. Rivulis’ versatile solutions are particularly suited to smaller plots and uneven terrain, enabling greater access to advanced technologies like fixed drip irrigation and systems for fruit crops. These innovations help democratize irrigation technology and foster sustainable agricultural practices.
Cocamar supports its 16,600 members through 114 operational units across Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, and Goiás, including 97 agricultural stores providing technical, administrative, and commercial assistance.
