Workshop on package of practices for Rabi Crops
11 November 2024, New Delhi: ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora, organized a workshop on package of practices for Rabi Crops today at the experimental farm, Hawalbagh, Almora, for state officers.
Dr Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora, briefed about the aims to provide key practices for rabi crops, including varietal improvements, agronomic techniques, and pest management, to support agriculture and horticulture staff, as well as extension officers working directly with farmers. He highlighted that the workshop will update state officers on the latest developments in institute technologies and crop varieties.
Additionally, the emergence of new diseases and pests, driven by changes in pathogen populations, which threaten crop yields, will be addressed. The institute has also developed small tools and machinery tailored for hill farmers to improve productivity.
During the workshop, various lectures related to improved varieties of rabi crops, vegetables, and their production and protection technologies were delivered. In addition, a lecture on mushroom cultivation in hills was also delivered.
A total of 12 participants attended the programme in physical mode, whereas 11 participants from different organizations, including the NEH region, attended virtually.
