Workshop on AI and Natural Language Processing

25 May 2024, Dehradun: ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun organized a workshop in hybrid mode on the application of Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing for the scientists, staff, and professionals from various ICAR institutes and organizations, today.

Dr. M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, highlighted the programme’s benefits for scientists and professionals, emphasizing the use of modern tools and online platforms for improved research outcomes.

Dr. M. Muruganandam, Principal Scientist and Head, PME & KM Unit, highlighted the workshop’s success in identifying potential opportunities in AI and NLP for effective content creation and faster dissemination.

Shri. Ashutosh Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun, briefed the comprehensive overview of AI and Natural Language Processing, emphasizing the use of rule-based linguistics and the advantages of Graphic Processing Units for speed and accuracy. He also highlighted the importance of datasets, tokenization, stemming, lemmatization, syntactic analysis, vectorization, and coding in AI and NLP tools.

The programme underscored the importance of maintaining creativity and ethical considerations while leveraging the potential of AI and NLP. It also briefly addressed the capabilities of tools like ChatGPT-3.5, 4.0, BARD, and Gemini in various contexts.

A total of 95 participants, including 80 online attendees from different centers of the institute and other ICAR institutes and organizations, participated in the workshop.
