24 February 2025, New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike, before holding discussions with protesting farmer representatives. During the meeting, the Minister inquired about Dallewal’s health.
Meanwhile, the Congress has criticized the AAP-led Punjab government over Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s absence from the crucial meeting between the Centre and farmers. Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, questioned the CM’s decision to visit Sangrur instead of attending the discussions in Chandigarh, calling it a sign of the state government’s lack of seriousness on farmers’ issues.
