Wheat Procurement in Madhya Pradesh: 77 Lakh Tonnes Purchased, ₹16,000 Crore Paid to Farmers

06 April 2025, Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that wheat procurement operations in the state have crossed 77 lakh metric tonnes, purchased from around 9 lakh registered farmers. A payment of ₹16,000 crore has already been made to the farmers by May 5. The Chief Minister emphasized that no farmer should be left out of the slot booking system and wheat from every farmer with a confirmed booking must be procured without delay.

While reviewing the wheat procurement process at Samatva Bhavan (the Chief Minister’s residence), Dr. Yadav warned that any irregularities at procurement centers would not be tolerated. He stated that the state is progressing toward achieving a record wheat procurement target of 81 lakh metric tonnes, surpassing last year’s performance.

The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and Additional Chief Secretary (CM Office) Dr. Rajesh Rajora. Officials informed that for the 2025–26 season, 15.44 lakh farmers registered for wheat procurement across 34.93 lakh acres. The government has set up 3,620 procurement centers across the state. Farmers who haven’t booked slots yet have been given the facility to do so through an online portal, and their wheat will be procured by May 9.
