Wheat Procurement Begins in Uttar Pradesh Today: MSP Set at ₹2,425 per Quintal
17 March 2025, New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government will commence wheat procurement for the Rabi Marketing Season 2025-26 from March 17, continuing until June 15. During this period, wheat will be purchased at 6,500 procurement centers across the state.
Farmers to Receive Payment Within 48 Hours
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure that farmers receive payment for their produce within 48 hours. Additionally, procurement centers have been instructed to provide all necessary facilities to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
This year, the government has introduced mobile procurement centers to purchase wheat directly from villages.
MSP Increased by ₹150 from Last Year
The central government has set the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat at ₹2,425 per quintal, an increase of ₹150 from last year’s rate of ₹2,275 per quintal.
Mandatory Registration for Farmers
Farmers must register to sell their wheat, with the registration process having started on March 1. Over 2.65 lakh farmers in Uttar Pradesh have already registered. Farmers can complete their registration through the Food and Civil Supplies Department website (fcs.up.gov.in) or the ‘UP Kisan Mitra’ mobile app.
The Food and Civil Supplies Department has advised farmers to ensure their wheat is properly cleaned and driedbefore bringing it to procurement centers, ensuring there is no moisture, soil, stones, or dust. This year, tenant farmers (bataidars) can also register and sell their wheat.
Procurement Process and Grievance Redressal
The wheat procurement process will run daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, except on Sundays and public holidays. Officials have been instructed to ensure a hassle-free and fully transparent procurement system. Additionally, farmers can contact the District Food Marketing Officer, Tehsil Regional Marketing Officer, or Block Marketing Officer for any issues.
A total of 6,500 procurement centers have been established under the Food and Civil Supplies Department and eight other procurement agencies. Farmers will receive payments directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) within 48 hours of selling their produce.
