Wheat Procurement 2025 in Madhya Pradesh: Strict Monitoring with QR Codes and Control Center
26 April 2025, Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government is taking major steps to make wheat procurement and ration distribution fully transparent and trustworthy. In a review meeting of the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department held on Wednesday at the Mantralaya, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav issued strict instructions to complete wheat procurement by May 5 and ensure spotless ration distribution.
Crackdown on Irregularities with QR Codes and CCTV
It was informed in the meeting that QR codes will be placed on grain sacks and warehouses. Additionally, CCTV cameras are being installed in all warehouses. A state-of-the-art control command center is being established in Bhopal, which will monitor grain distribution, fair price shops, and stock levels in real time. The objective of these measures is to prevent any irregularities in wheat procurement and distribution.
The Chief Minister made it clear that transparency must be maintained in wheat procurement and farmers should receive timely payments. The last date for slot booking is April 30, and wheat from all booked farmers will be procured by May 5. In the state, wheat is being purchased at the rate of ₹2,600 per quintal, which includes a ₹175 bonus.
Focus on Ration and Other Schemes
Under the National Food Security Act, ration is being distributed to 1 crore 31 lakh 34 thousand families across 29 categories in the state. The Chief Minister directed that e-KYC for all ration cardholders should be completed promptly so that no eligible person faces difficulty in obtaining ration. He also emphasized ensuring that no needy person is deprived of ration.
The Chief Minister suggested selling millets like maize, kodo, and kutki through self-help groups and fair price shops, which would increase demand for these crops and benefit farmers. Instructions were also given to expedite the implementation of schemes like Ujjwala Yojana subsidies and domestic gas pipeline connections.
Role of the Control Center
The control command center being built in Bhopal will further strengthen food grain management. It will monitor fair price shops and track all stocking activities live, eliminating the chances of irregularities in grain distribution.
Through the use of technology, the Madhya Pradesh government is bringing a new dimension to wheat procurement and ration distribution. It now remains to be seen how effective these measures will prove on the ground.
