Uttar Pradesh: No Verification Required for Sale of Wheat Beyond 100 Quintals

16 April 2025, Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major relief for farmers by removing the requirement of verification for the sale of wheat exceeding 100 quintals. A state government spokesperson said, “After initial verification, farmers will be allowed to sell up to three times their total production capacity. This move is aimed at preventing any inconvenience to farmers due to verification issues or record mismatches.”

Registration and Procurement Facility

The spokesperson added that farmers must renew their registration on the Food and Civil Supplies Department’s portal or through the department’s mobile app ‘UP Kisan Mitra’.

As per official data till Saturday, the state has procured 2.06385 lakh metric tonnes of wheat from 39,006 farmers. A total of 3,77,678 farmers are registered with the state government, and 5,804 procurement centers have been set up. The department is also reaching farmers directly at their homes through mobile procurement centers.

Farmers are being paid the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹2,425 per quintal along with an additional ₹20 per quintal for unloading, cleaning, and filtering. Wheat is being procured at the centers from 8 AM to 8 PM every day.
