Urgent Advisory: Protect Mango Panicles from Powdery Mildew This Week
11 March 2025, New Delhi: Mango growers in Uttar Pradesh must remain vigilant as the ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Rehmankhera, Lucknow, has issued an advisory warning of a potential powdery mildew outbreak between March 11 and March 17. Prevailing weather conditions could lead to an increased incidence of this fungal disease, which affects panicles and can significantly impact fruit set and yield.
Farmers are advised to regularly monitor their orchards for signs of powdery mildew. If more than 10% of panicles show symptoms, immediate action is required. Experts recommend spraying with Tebuconazole + Trifloxystrobin (0.05%), Hexaconazole (0.1%), or Sulfur WDG (80%) at 0.2% to effectively control the infection and prevent further spread.
Given the economic importance of mango production, timely intervention is crucial to ensuring healthy fruit development. Farmers should take preventive measures while considering weather conditions before applying fungicides to achieve the best results.
