UP Government Announces Purchase of Coarse Grains, Starting Date Confirmed

27 September 2024, New Delhi: The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has announced that it will begin purchasing coarse grains from the state’s farmers. Although the purchase will be made at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), this decision will benefit the farmers. The government has also raised the support price for coarse grains. Notably, the procurement will start from October 1.

This is important news for millions of farmers in Uttar Pradesh. Starting from October 1, the state government will purchase coarse grains such as jowar (sorghum), bajra (pearl millet), maize, and ragi (finger millet) at MSP rates. Farmers will be able to sell their crops directly to the government. The state government has already issued orders for this initiative.

According to the state government, from October 1 to December 31, farmers in Uttar Pradesh will be able to sell coarse grains like jowar, bajra, maize, and ragi at MSP rates. To avail of this, farmers will need to register themselves. Those who wish to sell their crops to the government at MSP rates must register on the state government’s website.

How Farmers Can Register

Farmers who want to sell their coarse grains at MSP rates to the government can register on the website of Uttar Pradesh’s Food and Logistics Department at fcs.up.gov.in. The registration process has already begun. Farmers can also register using the UP Kisan Mitra mobile app.

MSP for Coarse Grains Set

The Uttar Pradesh government has increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for coarse grains. The price for maize has been set at ₹2,225 per quintal, bajra at ₹2,625 per quintal, jowar (hybrid) at ₹3,371 per quintal, and jowar (Maldandi) at ₹3,421 per quintal.

  • Jowar: Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Ballia, Mirzapur, Jalaun, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Jaunpur, Fatehpur, Banda, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, and Hardoi.
  • Maize: Badaun, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Kannauj, Etawah, Bahraich, Ballia, Farrukhabad, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and Lalitpur.
  • Bajra: Badaun, Bulandshahr, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Aligarh, Kasganj, Etah, Hathras, Agra, Mathura, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Hardoi, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Etawah, Auraiya, and Kannauj.
