Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Lauds Atal Digital Suvidha Kendras, Calls Them Game-Changer for Rural Digital Empowerment
Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan to Launch on 29th May
14 May 2025, Raipur: Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today reviewed the ongoing schemes of Panchayat & Rural Development and Agriculture departments in Chhattisgarh along with Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai at the Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhawan), Raipur.
During the meeting, the Union Minister commended the Chhattisgarh government’s proactive approach and administrative commitment to rural and agricultural development. He said that building “developed villages and prosperous farmers” is vital for realizing the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Highlighting the importance of the Atal Digital Suvidha Kendras, Mr. Chouhan hailed them as a game-changer for digital empowerment in villages, urging other states to study and replicate the model.
Mr. Chouhan also emphasized that to boost farmers’ income, it is essential to promote not just traditional farming but also animal husbandry, horticulture, and fisheries. He stressed on the need for scientific agricultural practices, organic farming, high-quality seeds, and crop diversification.
In a major announcement, he shared that the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ will be launched from 29th May, under which teams of agricultural scientists will visit districts to train farmers in modern farming techniques. He urged the Chhattisgarh government to actively participate in this central initiative.
Reviewing the Amrit Sarovar scheme, the Union Minister directed officials to integrate it with local livelihoods to generate employment and deliver tangible results in water conservation. He assured that the Centre would consider revising the MGNREGA labour budget as requested by the state.
Progress under key schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) and PM Gram Sadak Yojana was also reviewed. Mr. Chouhan appreciated infrastructure development in Naxal-affected areas under the Niyad Nelanar Yojana, saying it is helping take development to remote regions.
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai reiterated that agriculture and rural development are the backbone of Chhattisgarh’s economy, and the government is committed to reaching the last mile. He said that true good governance lies in making rural areas self-reliant, delivering digital services, and providing skill-based employment to youth. The focus, he said, is on transforming lives—not just achieving numerical targets.
