Third Phase of MDP for KVK Heads Inaugurated

30 December 2024, Kolkata: The third and final phase of the Management Development Programme (MDP) for five newly recruited senior scientists and heads of KVKs of Zone-V was inaugurated today at ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata. The programme was jointly planned and implemented by the Agricultural Extension Division of ICAR, ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, and ICAR-ATARIs exclusively for the newly recruited Senior Scientist Heads of KVKs.

Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, highlighted the KVKs as dynamic hubs for agri-tech, driving the adoption of technologies that promote sustainability, gender equity, and environmental protection. Focusing on India’s 2047 goals, he urged the KVK Heads to lead transformative efforts. Dr Dey also highlighted the value stream mapping, Kaizen, lean management, and Six Sigma as tools to enhance the efficiency and impact of agricultural interventions through effective extension.

The trainees were introduced to new assignments, including drafting compelling project proposals for prospective funding, championing the “One District, One Product” initiative, and exploring the unique contributions of their disciplines to district-specific advancements.

Dr A. Haldar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, coordinated the programme. 
Two senior scientists and the entire faculty of ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, participated in imparting training.
