08 April 2022, Chandigarh: Taking forward the initiative of Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal to promote organic farming in the state, the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department today launched a dedicated organic farming portal.

Giving detailed information in this regard, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Dr. Sumita Misra said that due to modern farming techniques, serious problems like environmental change, forest erosion, genetic, irrigation and pollution land degradation are being created. Apart from this, excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is also affecting the water and soil power of agricultural land adversely. Natural farming can prove to be helpful in rejuvenating the ever-depleting natural resources and mitigating the effects of global warming. That is why today we have a dire need to save nature and natural resources.

Dr. Misra informed that the farmers who are interested in adopting organic farming on the portal can register themselves and get the benefits of various schemes. She said that the state is making efforts to promote natural farming and sustainable agriculture. In this direction, the department has prepared a comprehensive plan on organic farming. Farmers registered for organic farming will be trained and encouraged in this regard and under the scheme, farmers will be assisted in their product certification, marketing and branding.
