Soybean crop loss in Madhya Pradesh, CM announces compensation

28 August 2020, Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited several soybean fields to take stock of damage caused to soybean crop.

The soybean crop has been damaged by incessant rains in the last one week. He announced that the compensation will be given combining both crop insurance and relief amount will be paid to the farmers against the loss.

Addressing the farmers and villagers on this occasion at Krishi Upaj Mandi premises of Khategaon, Chief Minister Chouhan said that loss incurred in soybean crop will be compensated. He visited the agriculture fields of farmers in village Khirnikheda of Gram Panchayat Padyadeh and took stock of the damage caused to soybean crop.

An amount of Rs. 31 hundred crore against crop insurance has been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers. Also, an amount of Rs. 4 thousand 500 crore will be deposited in the accounts of 19 lakh farmers by September 6. He said that if needed, the government will do this even by obtaining loan.

Crop Insurance Registration

Chief Minister Chouhan informed that the last date for registration under the crop insurance scheme has been extended till August 31. District administration has been instructed to get insured all types of farmers with debt as well as without debt before the last date with priority.
