PAU’S School Of Organic Farming Organizes Field Day At Fatehgarh Sahib

8 January 2021, Punjab, IN: The School of Organic Farming, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a field day on “Production and Processing of Turmeric” at the field of Sh Kulwant Singh, village Ranwa, district Fatehgarh Sahib on January 7, 2021. The programme was sponsored by the Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development, Calicut, Kerala. About 30 farmers participated in the programme.

Dr Rajender Kumar, Senior Agronomist and Principal Investigator of the programme, highlighted the importance of turmeric and discussed its improved cultivation practices. He further emphasized to raise the crop to meet the domestic requirements.

Dr Tarsem Chand Mittal, Senior Extension Engineer, stressed upon processing of turmeric and its packaging for better marketing.

Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, Deputy Director, KVK, Fatehgarh Sahib provided information on various activities of KVK.

Dr Vinay Sindhu, Agronomist, explained organic certification of turmeric for higher benefits. The turmeric seed (rhizomes) was also distributed among the farmers to encourage them to go for turmeric cultivation.
