PAU Organizes exposure visit for farm women

09 March 2021, Punjab: The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organised a one-day exposure visit for the farm women of the village Bhundri, Siddhwan Bet and Beehlan, Ludhiana district to PAU on March 8 as a part of International Women’s Day celebration. A total of 34 farm women participated in this exposure visit. The farm women visited the Department of Extension Education, Cultural Museum, Incubation Centre and Bakery Laboratory of the Department of Food and Nutrition, PAU.

On the occasion, Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education stressed upon the need for women to come forward and start their enterprises for earning additional incomes for their households.

Dr Manmeet Kaur, Associate Professor, Extension Education, motivated the farm women to form self-help groups, which can help them to start enterprises at collective level.

Dr Lakhwinder Kaur, Extension Scientist, executed the visits of the farm women to different spots and encouraged them to participate in different training programmes conducted by PAU.

Dr Lopamudra Mohapatra, Extension Scientist, highlighted different avenues in which women can start their enterprises. The women were very enthusiastic and felt more aware and requested for more and more such exposure visits.
