KVK, Kapurthala Organizes Webinar On “Direct Seeded Rice”

18 May 2021, Punjab, IN: The Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kapurthala, under the guidance of Dr. J.S. Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana has started series of webinars on different agricultural technologies and second episode in this regard was organized on “Challenges in Direct Seeded Rice” (DSR) on 18.05.2021.

Dr G.S Sodhi, Additional Director Extension Education, PAU Ludhiana, welcomes the participants and emphasized them for sharing their valuable experiences so that transfer of DSR technology can be spread to masses. Dr.Sodhi highlighted the importance of DSR technology in saving of irrigation water.

Dr. Satbir Singh, Deputy Director (Trg.) KVK, Kapurthala, elaborated the advantages of DSR and requested the farmers to come forward, so that DSR technology can be further popularized on larger areas.

Dr. Gobinder Singh Assistant Professor (Soil Science) conducted this webinar and addressed the nutrient management related queries of participants. Dr. Bindu Marwaha, Associate Professor (Agri Engg) shared personal experiences on mat type raising technique so that mechanized transplanting can be further upscaled. Dr. Simerjeet Kaur, Principal Extension Scientist (Agronomy) explained the details of various weed control measures in DSR fields.

Dr. Manpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Farm Machinery and Power) demonstrated the calibration and working of seed drill for direct sowing of paddy. Dr. Rajwinder Singh, Assistant Professor (Zoology) explained details of various rat control measures in DSR.

Around 66 farmers and officials participated in this program. Dr. Gobinder Singh proposed the vote of thanks and urged the participants to join again in the coming webinar.
