KVK, Hoshiarpur organizes training programme on technologies for paddy residue management

26 October 2021, Punjab: Underlining the need for managing paddy residue and for safeguarding the environment, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur in its continuing campaign, organized a training programme on technologies for paddy residue management for the farmers of village Kane in block Hoshiarpur-I on 22-10-2021.

Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Deputy Director (Training), KVK Hoshiarpur highlighted harmful effects of burning of crop residue burning and discussed various technological options for paddy residue management in detail. Dr. Bons also gave detailed information about the working of paddy residue management machinery. He also shared important tips about the cultivation practices for rabi crops and the importance of biofertilizers.

Ms Sunita, Programme Assistant, KVK Hoshiarpur discussed about the different nutrients available in paddy residue, need for their preservation and regarding soil sampling.

Progressive residue managing farmer, Sh. Gurwinder Singh Khangura and District president, Bharti Kisan Union (Rajewal) shared his experiences and also informed that a group, Farmer Welfare Society, Pandori Phangurian has been formed recently and residue management machinery is being purchased on subsidy through Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Hoshiarpur.

On this occasion several progressive farmers of neighboring villages, Sh. Gurjpal Singh Talwandi Arayian, Sh. Mandeep Singh Jhojhar, Sh. Navpreet Singh Dadupur Garoya, Sh. Gurvinder Singh Nandachaur, Sh. Sarabjit Singh Randhawa Barota and Sh. Hirdaypal Singh Lidhran participated in the training camp and had a fruitful discussion with the experts regarding their queries.

The participating farmers were provided PAU package of practices for rabi crops, winter vegetable seed kits, wheat consortium biofertilizer and literature regarding paddy residue management techniques.
