KVK Faridkot organized a national level campaign on the theme “agriculture and environment: the citizen face” under the series of events under azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

27 November 2021, Punjab: KVK Faridkot organized a National level campaign on the theme “Agriculture and Environment : the citizen face” under the series of events under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

In the program 30 students from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Senior Secondary School, Faridkot participated in the program. During the program various activities were organized like debate competition and drawing competition on the said theme. Students who have attained positions were honored with trophies. During the inaugural session, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Director Regional Research Station, Faridkot, extended warm welcome to the participants. He also discussed about the various employment opportunities and entrepreneurship in agriculture sector. Dr R.K. Singh, Professor (Agri Engi.) shared information about various machines for crop residue management for the protection of environment. Dr Harinder Singh Principal Extension Scientist (Agronomy) FASC, Faridkot shared information about the link between agriculture and environment. Dr Gurdarshan Singh, Associate Professor (Horticulture) talked about importance of fruit nutrition garden and roof top garden. Exhibition was also displayed for students in which various activities of KVK, Faridkot were shown. Students visit was also arranged to the various demonstrations units of KVK, like Mushroom Unit, Dairy Unit, Poly house, Beekeeping Unit. They were also made familiar with other facilities available at KVK like Soil testing lab, Home Science lab and Plant clinic. Dr Gurlal Singh Gill, Assistant Professor (Animal Science) Dr Pawiterjeet Singh, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) Dr Karmjeet Kaur Assistant Professor (Home Science) also shared their views among the participants when the visit was arranged. Dr Kamaldeep Singh Matharu Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) presented vote of thanks to all and especially to the students and teachers of MGM Sen. Sen. School, who helped us to make the program a successful event.
