According to the scheme, the pits that are dug in the land for making organic fertilizers will be dug free by the State Government under MGNREGA. With this, where the labourers will get wages, the farmers will get organic fertilizer for free. The fertility of the land will increase and it will help to boost the cleanliness in the villages.

As per the directions of Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala, the Rural Development Department has decided that pits for indigenous manure will be dug in villages under MGNREGA. In villages, pits will be dug in vacant spaces, roadsides, fields etc. After digging the pit, the farmer will put his cattle dung and house garbage in it, which will later become organic fertilizer. This fertilizer will prove effective in increasing the production of crops.

Improving Soil Fertility with Organic Manure

Mr. Dushyant Chautala said that nowadays farmers are using chemical fertilizers to increase production, due to which the nutrients of the land are constantly being depleted. The fertility of the land can be increased only with organic manure, he added. He said that it is often seen that the people of the village put a lot of garbage outside the village making waste unmanageable and increasing the risk of accidents due to garbage scattered on the road.

He said that the state government has decided that according to the demand of the people of the state, small, medium and large size pits will be dug under the MGNREGA scheme which will be prepared individually for dairies or cowsheds. In these pits, where the people of the village will be able to put the animal dung and clean the surrounding by adding the garbage to it. Waste scattered here and there can also be put into the manure pits.

He also explained to the villagers scientifically how to make organic fertilizer. He said that with this organic manure, not only does the crop grow quickly, but the roots of the crop also get iron in plenty. It also helps in providing nitrogen to the roots of the plant. In addition, organic fertilizer ensures the right amount of calcium in plant roots too, he added.
