25 May 2021, Punjab, IN: As many as 60 farmers and farm women attended the online training course on “Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) Technology” organised by the Skill Development Centre under the guidance of Dr JS Mahal, Director of Extension Education.
Dr Kiranjot Sidhu, Associate Director (Skill Development), said the University was encouraging the farmers and farm women to enhance area under DSR, which was real water saving as well as labour saving technology.
Dr Amit Kaul, a PAU expert, explained the agronomic practices for DSR with emphasis on field preparation, weed management, irrigation and fertilization.
Dr Rajesh Goyal, another expert, demonstrated the use of machinery for DSR. He said the DSR could also be practiced using machines available at home.
Dr Lavleesh Garg, Extension Scientist and Course Coordinator, said DSR helped in timely completion of rice transplanting in spite of labour shortage owing to pandemic. Later, he proposed a vote of thanks.
