4629 crore paid to farmers against wheat procurement in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal | The Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the ongoing wheat procurement work in the state. Shri Chouhan said that the procurement work should be conducted simultaneously in mandis and through Souda Patrak (Sale Letter). Both options for selling wheat should be made available to the farmers.

All the regular necessary arrangements should be ensured in the interest of the farmers. He directed to take necessary steps at the district level to benefit the farmers with the arrangement of private mandis. An amount of about Rs. 4629 crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers against the procured wheat. Mr. Chouhan further added that the payment of work to the farmers should be carried out without any delay.

It was informed in the meeting that since the start of the procurement work till  May 06, total 49 lakh MT wheat has been procured from 8 lakh 50 thousand farmers. Forty lakh MT procured wheat has also been transported to the warehouses.

The Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Manish Rastogi, Director Public Relations Mr. Om Prakash Shrivastava and other officers were present at the meeting.
