State-Level Workshop on Energy Use Efficiency in Agriculture & Allied Sectors
12 June 2024, Darrang: A state-level workshop on ‘Energy Use Efficiency in Agriculture & Allied Sectors’ was organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang, and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone VI, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Assam State Designated Agency. The workshop focused on the concept of Per Unit – More Drop, More Crop” with Near to Zero Emissions for Climate Resilient Agriculture.
The Chief Guest, Shri. Navin Kumar Roy, General Manager, NABARD, highlighted the importance of sustainable energy in the agri-allied sector, particularly solar energy. He discussed various methods for adopting sustainable energy at the grassroots level and how farmers can effectively implement these practices.
The Guest of Honor, Shri. Gurujyoti Das, Chairman, AFDC, and former MLA, Mangaldoi, briefed the importance of modern agricultural technologies in North East India, especially in rural Assam, and how these technologies can transform agricultural practices.
Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-ATARI Zone VI, emphasised the need to raise awareness among farmers about renewable energy, with a special focus on drip irrigation. He also spoke about the critical role of renewable energy in achieving climate-resilient agriculture.
The workshop featured technical sessions and interactive sessions allowed farmers from Darrang and nearby districts to engage with experts, discuss challenges, and explore solutions.
