Sahyadri Farms Raises $47.8 Million to Advance Climate-Resilient Crops and Expand Processing Facilities
08 January 2024, New Delhi: Sahyadri Farms Post Harvest Care Limited, a horticulture platform in India known for its tech-driven and fully integrated operations, has secured a funding round of $47.8 million (₹390 crore). This investment comes from European private equity firm Responsibility and US-based GEF Capital Partners, alongside contributions from existing investors such as FMO, Proparco, Incofin, and Korys.
The funds will be utilized to boost the cultivation of patented, climate-resilient varieties of table grapes and citrus fruits. Additional resources will be directed toward enhancing facilities for fruit and vegetable processing, including advanced packhouses and infrastructure for producing value-added products like aseptic, IQF, freeze-dried items, juice concentrates, and dry fruits.
Founded in 2011 by Vilas Shinde and a group of progressive grape farmers, Sahyadri Farms has grown into a comprehensive platform supporting farmers and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). The company facilitates the production of high-quality horticultural products and offers primary and secondary processing services, catering to domestic and international markets. It currently collaborates with over 25,000 registered farmers and serves more than 200 institutional clients across 40+ countries through its digital, fully integrated supply chain.
In its first institutional funding round in September 2022, the company raised $38 million (₹310 crore) from FMO, Proparco, Incofin, and Korys, enabling a significant boost in operations. This contributed to nearly doubling its revenue to $181 million (₹1,482 crore) in FY24. With the latest funding, Sahyadri Farms aims to sustain a 40% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years.
