29 May 2023, Jaipur: In a notification released last week, the Department of Agriculture under the Government of Rajasthan published a list of agrochemical companies and categorized them as A, B, C, N (New Entrant), and ND (Non-Descriptive) based on samples found standard & misbranded. This was done based on data available from 2017-18 to 2022-23.

A company in ‘Category-A’ will have more than 100 samples collected during the last 5 years, of them up to 2% substandard samples. The criteria for categorization can be accessed in the original copy of the notification.

The purpose of such categorization is to ensure effective sampling and to observe an internal quality control mechanism and an advisory to inspectors as well as manufacturers.

The companies are allowed to submit a representation to the Joint Director of Agriculture – Rajasthan (Plant Protection) if in case they disagree on the category allocated to them within 15 days. The original copy of the notice can be accessed by clicking on the below link.
