PM-RKVY: Strengthening the Backbone of Indian Agriculture

04 October 2024, New Delhi: The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) is poised to transform Indian agriculture by promoting practices that are environmentally sustainable and economically viable. The scheme, which falls under the rationalized Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has a total budget allocation of ₹57,074.72 crore, making it one of the most comprehensive initiatives in the agricultural sector.

Driving Sustainability

PM-RKVY focuses on ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability by addressing key concerns like soil health, water management, and crop diversification. Its component schemes, such as Soil Health Management, Per Drop More Crop, and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana, are specifically designed to improve farming practices and ensure the responsible use of resources.

Technological Integration

PM-RKVY emphasizes the use of technology to streamline agricultural processes. From mechanization to the promotion of agri-startups, this scheme ensures that Indian agriculture is future-ready. The Accelerator Fund for Agri Startups is a crucial component that will support innovation in the sector, offering funding and mentorship to startups focused on solving agricultural challenges.
