28 July 2024, Punjab: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Gurdaspur conducted a successful plantation drive in Village Khokhar, an area adopted under the NICRA project. Dr Sarbjit Singh Aulakh, Associate Director of Training at KVK Gurdaspur, led the event, which emphasized the crucial role of trees in combating global warming.

Dr Aulakh encouraged farmers to plant fruit and multi-purpose trees around tube wells and on village panchayat land, highlighting the benefits of increasing green cover for environmental sustainability. He also urged the participants to take care of the newly planted trees until they are fully established.

During the drive, approximately 200 trees were distributed to the farmers and planted around tube wells and on panchayat land, contributing to the village’s green cover and ecological balance.
